Class Descriptions
Print and Cursive Writing Club
- This class is led by certified EC-6 Generalist Teachers, sharing tips and techniques to make handwriting help accessible to all here at the Tutoring Spot. Join our Cursive Handwriting Club with Mrs. Sokol and Print Handwriting Club with Mrs. Hernandez.
- This 60-minute handwriting session includes group instruction and feedback while completing structured handwriting prompts centered around a weekly theme. Learners begin each session by copying the weekly theme title following live demonstrations to gather an initial handwriting sample; learners then review positioning techniques, page margins, line boundaries, letter types, and spacing rules before continued handwriting practice; learners next select from preferred themed sentence options; learners continue to complete handwriting prompts with guided demonstrations, with option for independent work; ending with instructor feedback of handwriting samples.
- Class limits up to 10 students.
- New learners are welcome to join, pause, withdraw at any time.

Goals:
- Engage in functional communication with peers.
- Facilitate willingness to engage in handwriting tasks.
- Understand proper positioning of handwriting tools.
- Adhere to line boundaries and page margins.
- Apply proper spacing to handwriting samples.
- Improve fluidity of written samples.
- Organize written communication.
Homework:
- Learners are encouraged to use session objectives/vocabulary for continued handwriting practice for 10 minutes daily.
Supplies:
- Supplies will cost $25. This will include a writing workbook and writing utensils.

Disclosure:
- Mrs. Hernandez is a certified General Education Teacher. She has 17 years of experience with school aged children. In addition to her General Education Certification, she has ESL and Bilingual Certifications. After 12 years in the classroom, she became a Literacy Interventionist.
- Mrs. Sokol is a Certified EC-6 Texas Teacher. She has 15 years of education experience with preschool- 6th grade. In addition to the EC-6 Certification, she comes with additional Certifications in ESL and Special Education. She spent five years in a Dual Language/Bilingual Class and can speak Spanish.
Typing Club
- This class is led by certified EC-6 Generalist Teachers, sharing tips and techniques to make typing help accessible to all here at the Tutoring Spot. Join our Typing Club with Mrs. Sokol.
- This 60-minute typing session includes group instruction and feedback while completing structured typing lessons. Learners begin each session by reviewing finger positioning and mini lessons for the letters of the week. Learners will have the opportunity to move at their individual pace. As an added bonus, learners receive tips and tricks for Google Classroom usage.
- This class is limited to 5 students unless you have your own laptop or chrome book.
- Cost: $25 per session
- Recommendation: Grades 2nd-5th

- Computer with email access. Parent email addresses must be used.
