After receiving my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting in Oregon, my husband and I made the move to Texas 30 years ago.  I have been here ever since, and we started our little family.  I was a stay-at-home wife and mom of three active boys and involved in our community and church for several years.  When my youngest began school, I joined him and my older sons as a substitute teacher and volunteer in their school, and the inevitable happened: I fell in love with teaching.  I began the track of returning to higher education to receive my certifications and became a bilingual teacher.  I officially began my career as a 3rd grade bilingual teacher in 2007 with a couple of years in 2nd grade.  Although I have taught Math and Science as a self-contained teacher, my focus over the years has been to teach Reading.  After 12 years in the classroom and receiving my master's degree in education administration during this time, I moved to a different position and became a Literacy Interventionist and have been in this role for 5 years.  I support students in kindergarten through 5th grade.  I look forward to continuing to grow students from learning how to read to understanding what they read and growing into readers who can think critically about the things that they are reading.  Although some may need more support and some may struggle more than others, nothing is impossible.  I love the quote by Bethany Hamilton who said after a critical injury "I don't need easy.  I just need possible."  I hope to be a part of making reading and the love of reading a possibility for all of our young readers.
